Located in the centre of Cambridge in a Conservation Area with severely restricted access, the head office of Bidwells LLP is a 3-storey office building equipped with state-of-the-art office spaces and facilities. The building has recently been renovated with a new roof using a Sarnafil membrane covering material. As a result, the solar PV system was custom designed to be compatible with the specialist roof covering whilst retaining the warranty, utilising integrated mounting system to construct the unique solar PV system.
Energy saving: The first-year annual production of the PV system is projected to be 40,000 kWh which will cover c.20% of the electricity demand within the building.
Roof warranty: The solar system is custom designed to mount on top of a membrane roof cover, retaining the original warranty of the roof supplier.
Lightning protection: As part of the installation, Absolar organised the installation of lightning protection across the premises, integrating with the solar PV system
Project management: The project was completed within a tight 6 week schedule, including the installation of lightning protection. It was managed by a dedicated project manager and site manager to ensure that no obstruction was caused to the day-to-day operations of the property and to visiting clients.
Excellent project management from Akash Yadav & site management from Steve Campbell, both of whom have been considerate onsite and ensured that the project is on track in spite of the downturn in weather conditions.
Several solar installers were unwilling to even quote for the work due to the complexity of the building (access restrictions, roof construction and location in a conservation area). Absolar were exemplary in their attention to detail and the results of their diligence are clear.
